Privacy Policy

Northstar Detailing (“Northstar,” “we,” “us”) is a mobile car detailing business based in St. Anthony, Minnesota. This policy covers northstarmdmn.com (the “Site”) and the quotes, calls and texts that come from it. Our Terms explain the rules for using the Site and booking us.

What you tell us. When you request a quote we ask for your name, phone number, address or general area, and your vehicle, and you can add an email address, the package and areas you want done, how dirty the vehicle is, when you’d like it done, how you heard about us, a referral code and any notes. If you join our referral program we ask for your name and phone number. We also keep what you send us by call, text, email, or social media.

Unfinished quote forms. Once you’ve entered a name and a phone number on the quote form, we save what you’ve typed so far, even if you don’t press the submit button, so we can follow up and help you finish. The form tells you this while you fill it in.

Anonymous usage information. We count visits and clicks on our own Site: a random visitor ID kept in your browser, which pages were viewed, which buttons were clicked, where the visit came from (for example Google, a social site, or a referral link), whether you were on a phone or a computer, and whether it was the first page of your visit. This is not linked to your name or contact details. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits without using cookies. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we skip our own usage counting.

Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page. We use IP addresses briefly to block spam and repeated login attempts; they aren’t added to your customer record.

Photos. We may photograph vehicles before and after a job for our gallery and social media. We try to keep license plates and personal details out of the frame, and you can ask us not to photograph your vehicle, or to remove a photo, at any time.

We don’t use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The Site stores these small items in your browser:

• ns_src (cookie, 30 days): remembers where you first came from, so we know which of our listings and posts work.
• referred_by (cookie, 60 days): remembers a referral or promo code from a link you clicked, so it’s filled in on the quote form.
• ref_code (cookie, 1 year): remembers your own referral code on our referral page, if you create one.
• ns_vid, ns_session (browser storage): the random visitor ID and session marker used for the anonymous counting described above.
• ns_winter_seen (browser storage, 14 days): remembers that you’ve already seen an offer pop-up so we don’t show it again right away.

You can clear these any time in your browser settings. The Site works without them. Our team also uses a sign-in cookie in the private admin area; visitors never receive it.

• To answer your request, give you a quote, schedule and do the work, and follow up afterward.
• To contact you by phone, text or email about your quote or appointment, including a follow-up if you started the quote form but didn't finish it.
• To run the referral program and apply codes and offers you've used.
• To keep business records and handle questions or problems with a job.
• To understand which parts of the Site and which listings bring in customers, using the anonymous counts.
• To protect the Site and our customers from spam, abuse and fraud, and to follow the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

By giving us your phone number, you agree that we may call or text you at that number about your quote and appointment, including to follow up if you didn’t finish the quote form. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving texts, or tell us you don’t want calls, and we’ll stop. We’ll only send promotional texts if you’ve agreed to receive them separately. Agreeing to be contacted about your quote is not a condition of buying anything.

Only the people and services that help us run the business, and only what they need:

• Vercel: hosts the Site, provides visit counts, and stores the gallery photos.
• Upstash: the database where quote requests, referral codes and anonymous counts are stored.
• Resend: sends our team an email when a new quote request comes in. That email contains the details you submitted.
• Our own team members, who sign in to a private area to answer requests and schedule jobs.
• Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights, and a buyer if the business is ever sold.

Our Site links to other sites (Google, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor). Their privacy practices are their own.

We keep quote requests and customer records for as long as we need them to run the business and keep reasonable records, or until you ask us to delete them (unless the law or a pending issue means we need to keep something). Anonymous usage counts are kept for about 14 months.

The Site uses an encrypted connection, the private admin area requires a sign-in, and we limit who can see customer information to our team. No website or database is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise absolute security, but we take it seriously and fix problems promptly. You can ask us to tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can ask us to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live (including Minnesota and California), you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as getting a copy of it, or opting out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don’t do either of those. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm it’s really you first, and we’ll respond within the time the law requires. We won’t treat you differently for making a request.

The Site is for adults who own or manage vehicles. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their details, contact us and we’ll delete them.

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Changes apply from the date they’re posted.
